Went to see "Drawing Restraint 9"

Hello folks, sorry for the lack of posts, I've been busy the last couple weeks.

Anyway, this past Friday I went and saw Matthew Barney's "Drawing Restraint 9" at my local art theater. It was brilliant, just so beautiful and amazing. Its worth seeing if you can get the chance, its unfortunately never coming to DVD and it won't be released in any type of format.
The theater was pretty packed for an art film, in my area anyway. No one got up and left during the flesh cutting scene either, everyone seemed into it.

Well, I'll keep this short for now.
Here are some links about the film, check it out, really:

music, Music, MUSIC! Music I love right now...

Hello World! How are doing today? I'm fantastic, thank you.
Today, I thought I'd just share some of the music I'm really digging right now, I don't have anything else lined up so, here we goes...!

I'm really into Rasputina right now, they're a kind of alternative band with a lot of cellos and mixed in beats + electronica, its a perfect blend of music.
Favorite tracks: Deep In The Sweet Water, Tourniquet, The Olde Headboard, Fox In The Snow

My Fever Broke, EP by Rasputina.

I've also loved, but I've been getting back into a lot lately, Cat Power. Her new album, The Greatest, is so lovely and exactly the kind of album you would expect from her, in a good way. Her music is like indie-folk, with a dash of indie-rock, and a pinch of blues. Perfect combo.
Buy You Are Free first, then get The Greatest. It'll make more sense, trust me.
Favorite Tracks: Free, Nude As The News, Lived In Bars, I Don't Blame You

Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power

I've also really enjoyed Rilo Kiley, its one of the best indie bands on the market, hands down. But I never thought the lead, Jenny Lewis, would ever do that great on her own, what could she do without the band that she couldn't do on her own? I was wrong. Her creativity flourished with her debut solo Rabbit Fur Coat, and I fell in love on first listen. I'm so happy she announced a new tour, and yay!! She's coming to Cleveland, what could be better?
Jenny's music is like bluesy-folk with indie-rock bleeding through. Really check it out, an album not to be passed up, for sure.
Favorite Tracks: Rise Up With Fists!!, The Charging Sky, Handle With Care

Rabbit Fur Coat, LP by Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins

For now, I'll end with a favorite. Bjork. I of course always love her and her music, but I can't pass the chance to talk about her. Bjork's music is so unique. Anyone can say that about anybody, but in this case it is true. She doesn't let other people influence her music, but rather lets them become part of the process through collaboration. Its as if the album is already finished in her mind from day one, its just the process of making it come alive in a physical way, and with every album she has done that, without failing once.
I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at that. If I had to recommend one artist to someone, Bjork would be that one, always.
Favorite Tracks: Pagan Poetry, Oceania, Pluto, Joga, Triumph of a Heart, Like Someone In Love, Storm
Medulla, by Bjork.

Okay, so that's all for tonight.
Check out some of these artists and buy they're albums if you like them. Don't be greedy and download them off the internet, maybe that's okay to check people out, see what the style is, but isn't it great when you can actually support the artist?
I think so anyways...

K, g'night.

Friendship Sucks, Don't You Think?

Hello again world! Welcome back to my blog!
I guess we'll just start with some hazy ranting...
Why do things that start off great always end badly? Why would one person f*** up an entirely good thing, just because they got a little bored?

No I'm not talking about a relationship, just a friendship. A group of friends... I won't get into it too much, but let's just say I'm a bit depressed. I feel like I'm between two walls at the moment, and I don't see the light close enough to come out.

Life sucks. Hardcore.
only sometimes though...

I do have some good news! Yay!!
The deal for the house we're moving to is going through well, so I hope to be in there soon! Should be exciting, but with everything else going on its kind of a burden.

ok, what else can I ramble about...
hmm...

....

.....

Got it!

I was looking at some really cool videos of the new game coming out by ultra-amazing designer and sims-creator Will Wright, called Spore. It looks really fun and original. Being an avid sims player since it came out way back when, this looks really promising.

Watch the video already!

Bad at Blogging?

Me, bad at blogging? Perhaps, I know I haven't posted in a while. Just busy busy busy. I don't think there's anyone here to care though. Ah well, I'm still letting things progress.
Interesting going-ons in my life since the last blog post:
  • I'm moving at the end of September. (just down the road, but its a way better house, so I'm happy)
  • I'm getting a new job next week. (really fantastic, can you say dishwasher?)
  • I'm finally going to see Matthew Barney's "Drawing Restraint 9" by the end of August. (I'm so f***ing excited, you rock Mr. Barney!)
  • I'm going to the library tomorrow.
  • I'm about to make a shopping list...
  • I'm about to end this list thing, a little overdone, no?
Okay, I'm gonna keep this short. I'll end with one of my favorite music videos. I just wanted to post something a little more than what I did. G'night, love you world!

Great Day For Buffets and Bowling!

Hello world! Welcome to another exciting blog post from me to you!
Today was quite long, but still enjoyable.
I went to the International Buffet with my sister and her boyfriend, we caught up and had fun. After that we went bowling, and I came in second, every round (so close, but too far...)

Just a couple things I noticed:
  • Is it acceptable to have to ask for your beer 3 times if your waitress doesn't speak much english?
  • Is it odd that the same waitress took my ice cream away from me mid-bite? I was almost finished, so I wasn't mad or anything... But still!
  • Does every bowling alley smell like burnt cheese?
  • Is it socially acceptable to be annoyed by a group of drunken hillbillies next to you when bowling? If it isn't, I don't care.
Other things I got done today:

  • Finished catching up on the latest Dawn & Drew shows (I was only behind 3)
  • Remembered to give my dog her ear drops.
  • Picked up a gallon of milk that's been absent from my fridge for a few days now...
Hmmmm, this post is going to be a bit small. I can't really think of anything to add.

Vote for Dawn and Drew at the Podcast Awards (Mature Category)

Okay, okay...
Thank you again, and...

goodnight

The Day of House Work (and Starbucks...) (and Organica?)

Hello nonexistent readers! How was your day? Mine was not so fantastic, you should know...
I'll start by sharing the time here, 10:49 PM. Now, we'll go back a bit farther in time to tell the story
(I guess its a story, more like a long summary perhaps? Let me know)...
After my last blog entry, I decided it was high time for some coffee. So I went to my local branch of the world famous (is it??) Starbucks Coffee! Got a hot vanilla latte that might as while have ice in it, because it tasted like it was made an hour ago. You'd think for all the money they make, you could actually get a hot cup o' joe? (latte...)
But I won't rant, yet at least...

So I get over to my lovely Grandmother's house ( I didn't have time for BestBuy, we'll try for tomorrow), and the house is a huge mess as usual. My Grandmother is 75 years old and prone to a bad knee. I understand, sure, but you can atleast run the dishwasher now and again, you know? (am I cruel?)

Why is it called a charlie horse anyways? Do horses even get muscle spasms? Am I just an ignorant fool for not googling it right now? I dunno, you tell me...

So after that... I found myself at the Starbucks again... Iced Syrup-sweetened Green Tea (size grande). But they did not put enough syrup in, so I'm considering driving a bit farther to a different location tomorrow for my coffee, what do you think?
So after mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, scrubbing, spraying, just about everything in the house, it finally came, right when I sat down. One big gigantic charlie horse, it was so terrible. You would have thought I'd been carrying barrels o
f rock all day... But I wasn't.
Maybe I should forget Starbucks, is it as evil as everyone tells me? I don't usually support big corporations. I avoid Wal-Marts like I would road-kill. I actually do eat organic foods and support free and fair trade products.
I mean why not? If everyone did it, we wouldn't have to be lab rats with all these genetically-modified foods and processed sh*t that most Americans eat on a daily basis. I don't blame anybody of course (except the makers and pro
ducers of the sh*t), there isn't enough out there to educate people....

Memo to the world:
EAT ORGANIC!
SAVE THE WORLD!

Organic or Pesticide? You decide.

Rant over, sorries...

I don't endorse/support and of these links, just found them interesting...

I tired.

Goodnight and...

Thank you again!

Hello... no one! Nobody has read this blog yet, and that's okay. I didn't really expect anything. It's all cool, I'll keep rambling to myself.
Last night's post was posted late last night, but now here were are 10:13 AM as I'm writing this sentence. So maybe I'll just share my to-do list with you (by you I mean no one). I haven't said much about myself yet, so we'll just let that happen slowly, mkay?
To-do list for July 29th, 2006:

  • Finish cleaning up the house
This would include dishes, laundry, misc cleaning, real exciting stuff...
  • Take a shower... (I just heard the core of the earth yawn)
  • Go to BestBuy
I just recently obtained a $50 gift certificate to this store, so now I'm excited to buy a few things, mostly cds, but we'll see... Here's my main objectives for stuff to buy:

Sufjan Stevens - The Avalanche
I loved, loved, loved Illinois! So how could I resist this? The best of the outtakes and extras from Illinois complied into one cd? Yay! I hear its just as good as the actual album.

Peaches - Impeach My Bush
Woohoo! A new Peaches album, what's not to love? Dirty lyrics, amazing beats, music you can't help but dance to. Go peaches!

Muse - Black Holes and Revelations
I love Muse, I know they get a lot of flack for being too epic, too much like Radiohead, whatever... But they're still an amazing band with a great outlook. I've been in love since Absolution.

Bjork - Surrounded
Eventually, well maybe just now, you will all learn of my obession with Icelandic singer/songwriter/composor Bjork. She makes the best music ever. Plain as day, simple as that.
I would love to purchase her latest box-set, Surrounded, which includes every solo album, plus every solo album mixed in 5.1 surround sound, plus every solo music video, plus 1 bonus track.
But I won't be buying it, because its way out of my price range for music right now. $120 isn't bad for an artist's entire collection, but I'm too cheap anyway....

  • Well as far as the rest of the to-do list, it just includes making dinner, buying groceries, oh f*** it, I'm done boring you now.

thank you and....

goodbye.

Whatever, whatever is all this about?

Well the answer to the title of this post is: I don't know!
I think I'm just going to let this evolve into whatever its meant to be. Its bound to become something with me going on with ramblings, opinions, thoughts, interests, who knows.

Question #2: What sets this apart from every other blog in the universe?
Answer: I don't know yet! Let's wait and see...

So for now, I'm going to leave that as that. No one will probably read this. Wait, take out the "probably", NO ONE WILL READ THIS. Atleast for now anyways, I mean maybe in 6 months I will have hundreds upon thousands of blog posts, and maybe someone will read a couple and come back to the first one and...
there you go
maybe someone will read this

Okay, over.....

now

thank you
