Went to see "Drawing Restraint 9"

Hello folks, sorry for the lack of posts, I've been busy the last couple weeks.

Anyway, this past Friday I went and saw Matthew Barney's "Drawing Restraint 9" at my local art theater. It was brilliant, just so beautiful and amazing. Its worth seeing if you can get the chance, its unfortunately never coming to DVD and it won't be released in any type of format.
The theater was pretty packed for an art film, in my area anyway. No one got up and left during the flesh cutting scene either, everyone seemed into it.

Well, I'll keep this short for now.
Here are some links about the film, check it out, really:

music, Music, MUSIC! Music I love right now...

Hello World! How are doing today? I'm fantastic, thank you.
Today, I thought I'd just share some of the music I'm really digging right now, I don't have anything else lined up so, here we goes...!

I'm really into Rasputina right now, they're a kind of alternative band with a lot of cellos and mixed in beats + electronica, its a perfect blend of music.
Favorite tracks: Deep In The Sweet Water, Tourniquet, The Olde Headboard, Fox In The Snow

My Fever Broke, EP by Rasputina.

I've also loved, but I've been getting back into a lot lately, Cat Power. Her new album, The Greatest, is so lovely and exactly the kind of album you would expect from her, in a good way. Her music is like indie-folk, with a dash of indie-rock, and a pinch of blues. Perfect combo.
Buy You Are Free first, then get The Greatest. It'll make more sense, trust me.
Favorite Tracks: Free, Nude As The News, Lived In Bars, I Don't Blame You

Chan Marshall, aka Cat Power

I've also really enjoyed Rilo Kiley, its one of the best indie bands on the market, hands down. But I never thought the lead, Jenny Lewis, would ever do that great on her own, what could she do without the band that she couldn't do on her own? I was wrong. Her creativity flourished with her debut solo Rabbit Fur Coat, and I fell in love on first listen. I'm so happy she announced a new tour, and yay!! She's coming to Cleveland, what could be better?
Jenny's music is like bluesy-folk with indie-rock bleeding through. Really check it out, an album not to be passed up, for sure.
Favorite Tracks: Rise Up With Fists!!, The Charging Sky, Handle With Care

Rabbit Fur Coat, LP by Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins

For now, I'll end with a favorite. Bjork. I of course always love her and her music, but I can't pass the chance to talk about her. Bjork's music is so unique. Anyone can say that about anybody, but in this case it is true. She doesn't let other people influence her music, but rather lets them become part of the process through collaboration. Its as if the album is already finished in her mind from day one, its just the process of making it come alive in a physical way, and with every album she has done that, without failing once.
I could go on and on, but I'll leave it at that. If I had to recommend one artist to someone, Bjork would be that one, always.
Favorite Tracks: Pagan Poetry, Oceania, Pluto, Joga, Triumph of a Heart, Like Someone In Love, Storm
Medulla, by Bjork.

Okay, so that's all for tonight.
Check out some of these artists and buy they're albums if you like them. Don't be greedy and download them off the internet, maybe that's okay to check people out, see what the style is, but isn't it great when you can actually support the artist?
I think so anyways...

K, g'night.

Friendship Sucks, Don't You Think?

Hello again world! Welcome back to my blog!
I guess we'll just start with some hazy ranting...
Why do things that start off great always end badly? Why would one person f*** up an entirely good thing, just because they got a little bored?

No I'm not talking about a relationship, just a friendship. A group of friends... I won't get into it too much, but let's just say I'm a bit depressed. I feel like I'm between two walls at the moment, and I don't see the light close enough to come out.

Life sucks. Hardcore.
only sometimes though...

I do have some good news! Yay!!
The deal for the house we're moving to is going through well, so I hope to be in there soon! Should be exciting, but with everything else going on its kind of a burden.

ok, what else can I ramble about...
hmm...

....

.....

Got it!

I was looking at some really cool videos of the new game coming out by ultra-amazing designer and sims-creator Will Wright, called Spore. It looks really fun and original. Being an avid sims player since it came out way back when, this looks really promising.

Watch the video already!

Bad at Blogging?

Me, bad at blogging? Perhaps, I know I haven't posted in a while. Just busy busy busy. I don't think there's anyone here to care though. Ah well, I'm still letting things progress.
Interesting going-ons in my life since the last blog post:
  • I'm moving at the end of September. (just down the road, but its a way better house, so I'm happy)
  • I'm getting a new job next week. (really fantastic, can you say dishwasher?)
  • I'm finally going to see Matthew Barney's "Drawing Restraint 9" by the end of August. (I'm so f***ing excited, you rock Mr. Barney!)
  • I'm going to the library tomorrow.
  • I'm about to make a shopping list...
  • I'm about to end this list thing, a little overdone, no?
Okay, I'm gonna keep this short. I'll end with one of my favorite music videos. I just wanted to post something a little more than what I did. G'night, love you world!
